Before the crowds of officials gathered around you to break
a bottle of bubbly across your hull…
Before your hull was even fully bolted together…
You were called Tokitae. And now, with the same majestic grace of the
Olympic mountain range for which your class of vessels
is named, your moniker is official.
Welcome to the fleet, Tokitae!
(pronunciation rhymes with Polka-tay)
You’ve got a lot to be proud of. Did you know you are the first of three new Olympic Class ferries to join the largest ferry fleet in the nation?
You’ve got big waves to fill, it’s true. Starting this summer you’ll carry up to 1,500 people and 144 cars to and from Mukilteo and Whidbey Island.

In fact, you’re joining up at the perfect time to relieve the oldest vessel in the WSF family, the Evergreen State. She was christened in 1954!
We know you’re destined for greatness. After all, not every
ferryboat in the harbor gets their own webisode on The Boat Guy.
Once again, welcome to the fleet, Tokitae! May you have fair winds and following seas.
